AIBI Congress Manchester, England 30 May - 2 June 2019

We have an exciting programme planned for partners.

FRIDAY 31 MAY 2019

Visit to Tatton Park 09.00 to 15.00

Partners will be collected from The Midland Hotel by coach at 9.00 and taken to Tatton Park, located in the Cheshire countryside around a 30 minute drive from central Manchester.

Set amidst more than 50 acres of gardens, at the heart of 1,000 acres of landscaped parkland, the elegant Mansion house at Tatton Park sits in an elevated position. The impressive portico of the South Front dominates the view of the house from the parkland.

From the turn of the 18th century the Egerton family made a home on this site. The rich furnishings of the Tatton Park mansion and its important collection of paintings and books reflect the growing wealth and status of the Egerton family at the end of the 18th and during the 19th centuries. The mansion houses one of the National Trust's finest libraries and an outstanding collection of furniture. Add to this the extensive array of domestic offices and servants’ quarters and the Mansion offers a complete view of life in days gone by.

The Mere Resort - Lunch 13.00

Following our visit to Tatton Park our coach will take us a short drive to The Mere Resort for lunch. Located in the heart of the Cheshire countryside, The Mere offers stunning lakeside views over the Mere Lake. The Mere’s "Nature to plate” philosophy ensures that they use only the freshest seasonal ingredients, simply prepared and without too much fuss. Dishes look refined, and the flavours are instantly recognisable. Their passion for fresh ingredients means they consistently strive to support local Cheshire suppliers. They have created their very own orchard bearing fruits, trees, nuts and berries, plus resident bee hives making honey for the summer.

Following lunch our coach will return partners to The Midland Hotel.

Tour of BBC Studios 09.30 – 13.00

Today, partners will be collected from The Midland Hotel by coach at 09.30 and taken to the new BBC Studios a 15 minute drive from central Manchester. The BBC is located at Salford Quays a revitalised, modern area built on the old industrial dockyards which have been transformed into what is now known as Media City UK.

The studios are home to a whole host of BBC channels and programmes including favourites such as Match of the Day, Blue Peter, A Question of Sport, Mastermind, BBC Breakfast, Radio 5 live, CBBC, BBC Sport and the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, to name just a few.

Well-informed and friendly tour guides will entertain and surprise you as you walk in the footsteps of the UK’s favourite stars. The guides will make sure that you see the most interesting areas available when you visit as well as giving you a fascinating insight into how TV and radio work.

You can also have a go at making your own news and weather bulletin in the BBC’s interactive studio. The tour lasts approximately 1.5 hours. The BBC buildings at MediaCityUK are working buildings, so no two tours are the same, but they'll always be informative, interesting and fun.

The Midland Hotel - Lunch 13.00

Following the BBC Studios Tour, partners will be returned to The Midland Hotel at 13.00 to join AIBI Congress delegates for lunch.
